MAWS 2013 Spring Conference
Friday May 10, 2013
Thank you to everyone who helped make this conference as amazing as it was!
As keynote speaker, we welcome Andrew Kotaska, an obstetrician from Yellowknife, Northwest Territory. A brilliant speaker, Dr. Kotaska received his MD from U.B.C. in 1992 and worked as a GP-surgeon in northern British Columbia before returning to complete a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2006. He is now a generalist obstetrician & gynecologist and currently the Clinical Director of Obstetrics at Stanton Territorial Hospital in Yellowknife where he lives with his wife and two young boys. His current research interests are breech birth, the effect of obstetrical analgesia on labour, and the overestimation of risk in modern obstetrics.
We are also happy to feature Penny Simkin and nationally-known CNM, author, and epidemiologist Judith Rooks, as well as local midwives, Teresa Evans, ND/LM, and Anne Hirsch, LM, CPM and doulas/educators, Sharon Muza and Carrie Kenner.
