The Midwives’ Association of Washington State (MAWS) is seeking Licensed Midwives and community members who feel called to step into leadership and help guide our statewide work in 2026 and beyond. This is a pivotal moment for midwifery in Washington State, a moment that asks for steady hands, visionary minds, and compassionate hearts. If you’ve ever felt that pull toward service, toward shaping the profession you love, we invite you to consider joining our Board of Directors.

MAWS is a community-rooted organization representing Licensed Midwives across Washington. For decades, MAWS has championed equitable access to midwifery care, advanced professional integration, protected scope and reimbursement, uplifted students, and centered racial and reproductive justice in everything we do. We are a community that believes that when midwives thrive, families and communities thrive — and it is our responsibility to build that future together.
Land Acknowledgement
MAWS acknowledges that we live and work on the unceded ancestral lands of the Coast Salish tribes and pay our respects to all of the ancestral homelands and traditional territories of Indigenous peoples who have been here since time immemorial. We recognize that this land touches on the shared waters of tribes and bands within the Duwamish, Puyallup, Suquamish, Tulalip and Muckleshoot nations. We recognize we are grateful to be guests in these lands and commit to show solidarity for the continued fight for Indigenous sovereignty.
